Review Years

Years is a delightful plant-based eatery in Hong Kong, known for its innovative and delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes. They have several branches across Hong Kong, all with different menus. I often frequent the one in Whampoa, called Be with Years.

The menu offers a variety of Japanese and Western-inspired dishes. Popular choices include the Japanese curry cutlet, the Impossible meat spaghetti, and the Impossible cheeseburger.

The dishes are creatively presented and tastefully seasoned, often surprising diners with how closely they mimic their non-vegetarian counterparts.

I really like the look of Be with Years, it's minimalist but cosy and the staff are always welcoming. The restaurant features a simple yet elegant design with wooden tables and warm lighting, making it a perfect spot for a welcoming meal.

The staff at the Whampoa branch are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and can offer great recommendations. As this is often an area where Hong Kong restaurants lack, it is refreshing to experience good service for a change!

Despite being located in a competitive area, the prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and creativity of the food.

Overall the Whampoa branch is highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy delicious plant-based meals in a comfortable and stylish setting. Whether you are a vegan, vegetarian or just curious about plant-based cuisine, this restaurant is sure to impress.

Running a plant based restaurant in Hong Kong is tough business. Hong Kong has one of the highest meat consumption per capita in the world at 664g per day. People in Hong Kong especially enjoy pork and beef, consuming four times the UK's average daily consumption amount.

Now that we all start feeling the impact of climate change in our daily lives, with scorching temperatures and an uptick of natural disasters, it is more important than ever to support these businesses. We have to start moving away from eating meat. Animal agriculture has a massive impact on climate change and it is up to us to change our ways and save the planet, one delicious plant-based meal at  a time.
